The Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Hurley will visit Vietnam at the invitation of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, His Excellency Mr Vo Van Thuong from 3-6 April.
During the state visit, Governor-General Hurley and Mrs Hurley will also meet General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, His Excellency Nguyen Phu Trong; Prime Minister, His Excellency Pham Minh Chinh; and President of the National Assembly, His Excellency Vuong Dinh Hue.
Demonstrating the depth and breadth of the relationship, their Excellencies will attend a variety of events in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of bilateral relations between Australia and Vietnam. Strong bilateral trade and defence cooperation, educational and people-to-people links will be recognised with engagements in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
