Australia Awards Scholarships 2015 applications now open online

“Australia is working constructively to facilitate growth and progress Vietnam’s greater economic integration. The Australia Awards Scholarships and other scholarship programs of the Australian Government are helping improve the quality of Vietnam’s human resources so that the country can maximize the benefits from this integration process”, says Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Hugh Borrowman.

“In that spirit, I’m pleased to announce that the Australia Awards Scholarships 2015 to study in Australia at the Masters and PhD levels open online for Vietnamese applications from 01 February.”

Local government and central agency officials; staff from Vietnamese NGOs, provincial enterprises; university and college lecturers and researchers are encouraged to apply.

Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international awards offered by the Australian Government to the next generation of global leaders for development. Through study and research, recipients develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and help build enduring people-to-people links with Australia.

Australia Awards Scholarships are for full-time study in Australia. Each scholarship includes all tuition fees, living allowance, airfares and health insurance. The awardees will study at a university of their choice, at the post-graduate level (Masters and PhD) in a diverse range of key development areas such as gender, disability, human rights, economics, education, infrastructure, environment, rural development and public health.

Applicants with a disability and applicants coming from disadvantaged rural areas are given priority in this scholarship program.

Out of 185 awards offered in last year’s selection round, seven awards were given to applicants with disabilities and 28 to applicants from disadvantaged rural areas.

Nearly 4,000 Vietnamese citizens have studied in Australia with development scholarships provided through the Aid Program since 1975. Many of them have been able to contribute their knowledge and skills to Vietnam’s development and linkages with Australia.

Applications are open online from 1 February until 31 March 2015. Awardees are expected to begin their studies in Australia in 2016.
