Leading Australian guitarist judging at the
First Hanoi Guitar Concourse
The Australian Embassy in Hanoi is proud to sponsor Slava Grigoryan as a judge of the First Hanoi Guitar Concourse which will be held from 21 to 28 October 2012 at the Vietnam Academy of Music in Hanoi.
Although there have been many guitar festivals in Vietnam, this will be the first classical guitar concourse for Vietnamese guitar players. The concourse will provide an objective view of Vietnamese young guitarists’ quality and a source of Vietnamese candidates for international competition.
Famous Australian guitarist, Slava Grigoryan, has been invited by the Vietnam Academy of Music to judge at the concourse. His contribution will ensure the quality and high standards of the concourse. Slava has won major prizes at international classical guitar competitions and has played with world's leading orchestras and legendary jazz guitarists. His albums are highly regarded and have received numerous awards.
During his time in Hanoi, Slava will also play with visually impaired students from the Nguyen Dinh Chieu School, proving that music knows no boundary. It is an international language and helps people of different cultures understand each other. Music is also a good way for visually impaired people to express themselves while providing them opportunities to earn a living.
On 25 October, Slava and other members of the judging panel will perform at a concert at the Vietnam Academy of Music. This concert will provide a wonderful space for guitar students and contestants to learn from experts.
