AUSTRALIA FUTURE UNLIMITED: SCHOOL OPEN DAY PROGRAM 2012

Australia Future Unlimited: School Open Day Program 2012 will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on 12 and 13 May respectively with the participation of fourteen prestigious Australian State Government and independent secondary schools from around Australia. This is an annual Australian schools information program organised by The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) to provide students and parents the latest information about studying in Australia.

Australia is a popular destination for Vietnamese students who value its world class education system, reputable institutions and excellent studying and living environment. There were almost 24,000 student enrolments from Vietnam in Australia in 2011 across all level with over 2000 Vietnamese student enrolments in Australian schools last year.

Participating in the Open Day Program, students and parents will have the opportunity to discuss directly with representatives from Australian schools to gain first-hand information about courses, studying and living costs and conditions, application process as well as experiencing the key features of studying in an Australian secondary school.

Apart from the face-to-face meetings with Australian school representatives, interested students are invited to join demonstration lessons on English from Australian teachers to experience the latest Australian teaching and learning methodology. Visiting students and parents can also enjoy an Australian ‘experience’ through a series of Australian cultural and sport activities, such as a demonstration of Australian Football and a chance to learn some simple Australian cookery.

There will be a seminar on “Studying and Living in Australia” run by Australian alumni to share practical experience and advice about the benefits of living and studying in Australia.

Representatives from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will conduct information sessions on student visas to Australia at the event.

Peter Mackey, Austrade’s Education Commissioner, ASEAN, based in Hanoi said, “We have worked with Departments of Education and Training (DOET) and the hosting schools this year to provide students and parents with a real taste of what they can expect from an Australian secondary school experience. We hope many students and parents from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are able to come along and gain a better understanding of the quality and diversity of what an Australian education has to offer.”
