Professor Beazley AO, FTSE, Chief Scientist of Western Australia and one of Australia’s leading science communicators, will address aspiring scientists at universities and schools in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from 8-10 November.

Professor Beazley’s illustrated talk will outline how world class research in Western Australia (WA) will impact the Vietnamese community in healthcare, agriculture, climate change and renewable energy. She will also address AusCham in Hanoi and HCMC.

“Western Australia has a major focus on research and innovation and has achieved global recognition for its contribution in the fields of medicine and technology. Currently students and academic researchers are working on cutting-edge research projects relevant to current and future issues facing the local and wider community”, explained Professor Beazley.

The Science Lecture Series is organised by Perth Education City (PEC), the not-for-profit industry and government-supported premier body responsible for branding Perth and WA as a worldclass study destination, with support from the WA Government, Austrade and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs. The Australian Ambassador and the Consul-General will host a reception for Professor Beazley in Hanoi and HCMC respectively.

Professor Gary Martin, Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor of Murdoch University and Chair of the PEC Board said PEC was proud to be part of the Science series “Food security, future energy sources and better health will be greatly enhanced by current scientific research and innovation”, he said.

Perth, the capital city of Western Australia (WA), is an innovative hub that has gained global recognition for its scientific credentials. The State’s five universities are at the cutting edge of science and technology, making significant contribution to innovations in medicine, biotechnology, engineering, geology, agriculture, renewable energy, water management, astrophysics and veterinary science.
