Now in its seventh year, The Australian Education Showcase continues to raise the profile of Australian education and training to Vietnamese students and their families. This year, representatives from fifty-six Australian institutions will be participating in the showcase, providing information about their courses, scholarships, education pathways, as well as practical advice about the benefits of living and studying in Australia.
Australian Education Commissioner (ASEAN), Mr Peter Mackey, highlighted the importance of the showcase in promoting Australian education to Vietnam. “Australia is a popular destination for Vietnamese students who value its world class education system, reputable institutions and excellent studying and living environment. There continues to be strong interest by Vietnamese students in considering a range of courses across all levels of education with almost 26,000 enrolments in Australia in 2010”.
“The Australian Education Showcase Vietnam 2011 is a key event for raising awareness of the Australian education system in Vietnam. It enables students and their families to meet and talk directly with representatives from a wide range of institutions to gain an understanding of the programs that are available and the studying and living environments they offer; factors that are critical to the decisions that families make about their children’s future education”, Mr Mackey said.
The program this year will extend beyond an exhibition format to enable the participating Australian institutions to engage at a deeper level in the market by providing access to a broader cross-section of stakeholders including parents, students, agents, key Vietnamese and Australian Government officials, representatives from Vietnamese vocational education and training (VET) institutions, higher education institutions and industry players.
The showcase will be launched at The Australia – Vietnam Future Education Forum on 10 November 2011, which will explore future directions for Vietnam and the opportunities for Australia’s VET and higher education sector to engage with Vietnamese stakeholders. Participants will have the opportunity to share information and explore potential collaboration with both institutions and industry. The forum will gather representatives from Vietnamese government, key industry bodies as well as Australian and Vietnamese institutions. The Australian Trade Commission has received strong support and cooperation from the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to organise this forum.
In response to high interest from Australian institutions in the Mekong Delta region, for the first time, The Australian Trade Commission will organise an education mini fair in Can Tho in collaboration with Can Tho University. This will enable students from this region to gain a better insight into Australia’s reputation for high quality education, excellent lifestyle and care for international students.
