Australian Governor-General to pay State Visit to Vietnam

The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, and His Excellency Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, will undertake a State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 8 May to 14 May 2011. The visit will further strengthen the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam.

The Governor-General will meet with Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi and provincial leaders in Danang, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria – Vung Tau. The Governor-General will open the World Conference on Drowning Prevention in Danang and visit HIV/AIDS, helmet safety, nursing and preventable blindness activities.

Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC was sworn in as Australia’s twenty-fifth Governor-General on 5 September 2008 and is the first woman to take up the office.
