“Australia through your eyes” - Sharing your moment

Australian Ambassador HE Mr Allaster Cox and Mr Thang Duc Thang, Editor-in-Chief of leading online Vietnamese newspaper VnExpress, today launched the “Australia through your eyes” video and photo competition. The competition allows Vietnamese people studying, working or travelling in Australia the opportunity to tell their stories using videos and photos posted on the VnExpress website. The competition runs from 14 April to 13 May 2011.

Australia attracts many Vietnamese citizens looking to study, work or just to travel. More Vietnamese students study in Australia than in any other country. Australian experiences and stories collected by these Vietnamese are always of interest to family, friends and the wider public in Vietnam. Similarly, Vietnamese travelling abroad relish the opportunity to share their unique stories.

“Australia through your eyes” creates a platform to meet those desires, allowing Vietnamese citizens to share their “Australian story” on the VnExpress website. VnExpress readers have the opportunity to comment on and ‘like’ their favourite video. Competition entries and conditions can be viewed at http://vnexpress.net/gl/the-gioi/australia-trong-toi.

Ambassador Cox said, “The interesting element of this competition is that participants can be as creative as they like through the way they tell their stories. They can also exchange perspectives with VnExpress readers through comments and by ‘liking’ videos.”

Contestants have the opportunity to win a return trip to Australia and great electronics prizes, including an iPad 2. There are also weekly prizes for VnExpress readers living in Vietnam who comment on competition entries.

This competition is sponsored and organised in collaboration with the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, VnExpress, Tourism Australia, Australia Network and Austrade.
