Australian Endeavour Awards 2012 applications now open

Vietnamese scholars, researchers and professionals are encouraged to apply now for the 2012 Endeavour Awards. Applications open on 1 April 2011 and close on 30 June 2011. Further information is available at www.deewr.gov.au/EndeavourAwards

Endeavour Awards, the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarships, provide opportunities for citizens of Asia, the Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to undertake research, study and professional development abroad.
Endeavour Awards promote leadership, research and academic excellence and build linkages between Australia and participating countries. Endeavour Awards are open to all fields of study and there is no age limit for applicants.

Ms Bui Thi Bich Lien a judicial reform expert with the Justice Partnership Programme, won a Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Award in 2010, enabling her to commence her PhD in law at Monash University in Australia. “Being presented with my award by the Australian Prime Minister herself during her visit to Hanoi in October 2010 was the most honourable and memorable experience in my life,” Ms Bich Lien said. “My professional and personal bonds with Australia will be strengthened through this Award. I’m really looking forward to new academic and life experiences in Australia.”

Since the Endeavour Awards were introduced in 2006, Vietnamese applicants have performed very strongly, winning the highest number of awards of any South-East Asian country. Last year, 59 high-achieving Vietnamese scholars and professionals won prestigious Endeavour Awards for study, research and professional development in Australia, including five prestigious Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Awards (from only twenty in the region). This is a testament to the calibre and initiative of Vietnamese scholars.
