Australia and Vietnam Strengthen Aviation Security Ties
Australian-Vietnam relations were further boosted today with confirmation of Australian Government funding of AUD148,000 to assist Vietnam in strengthening its aviation security practices.
Australia and Vietnam share a cooperative transport relationship and this initiative will assist the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) strengthen its security regime.
The project will be funded under AusAID's Public Sector Linkages Program and delivered by the Office of Transport Security in the Department of Infrastructure.
The project will deliver security capacity building activities including sponsored attendance to an International Civil Aviation Organization accredited training course, two international standard aviation security courses, and a visit to Darwin International Airport to observe Australia's world-class aviation security practices.
Officials from CAAV and airport security management from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will participate in the program.
Australia is committed to strengthening transport security across the Asia-Pacific and through this partnership the relationship between Australia and Vietnam will also be stronger.
