The 14th Asia Region Law Enforcement Management Program

(ARLEMP) opened in Hanoi

Hanoi - The 14th Asia Region Law Enforcement Management Program (ARLEMP) was opened this week in Hanoi by the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr Allaster Cox and Senior Colonel Nguyen Kien of the General Department of Police.

ARLEMP is a joint initiative of the Vietnamese General Department of Police, the Australian Federal Police and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Vietnam. The four week ARLEMP program provides 20 law enforcement officials with exposure to current international management practices and communication techniques.

At the opening Ambassador Cox observed that "We can no longer expect that individual national efforts will be successful in combating crime alone. Only through the establishment and maintenance of solid partnerships, built on high levels of cooperation, collaboration and communication can we realistically win the battle against those that engage in crime”.

The program concludes on the 29th of April when the participants will return to their provinces and use the techniques taught to enhance engagement with the community in the effort to combat crime.
