Reknowned Australian Jazz guitarist Nick Freer to perform in Vietnam


Reknowned Australian Jazz guitarist Nick Freer will travel to Vietnam to perform Jazz in Ho Chi Minh City from 9-12 September and in Hanoi from 13-18 September and to conduct masterclasses for students in the respective cities’ Music Conservatoriums.

Nick Freer is a professional Jazz guitarist who has played at many Jazz festivals and clubs world-wide since 1990. Freer has also performed for numerous VIPs including the former US President Bill Clinton.

Freer will also host masterclasses with students, lecturers and Jazz professionals on Tuesday, 12 September 2006 at the HCMC Conservatorium and on Thursday, 14 September at the Hanoi Conservatorium. Freer will play Jazz, take questions from students, and encourage participants to improvise and play with him. Members of the public will be able to see Freer perform at the Sax’n Art Club in HCMC on the nights of 9-12 September and at Minh’s Jazz Club in Hanoi on the nights of 14-17 September.

As part of the ongoing support of Vietnam’s cultural development by the Australian Embassy in Hanoi and Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Australian Charges d’ Affaires Andrea Faulkner will hold an ‘invitation only’ reception at the Ambassador’s Residence to welcome Nick Freer and his Vietnamese colleagues from Minh’s Jazz Club on the evening of 14 September.
